Buyer’s Guide to UTV Tires
The tires that come standard with your UTV might be great when you are first starting out, but as you gain experience you might find yourself wanting more options. There is almost no limit to the landscapes you can explore with a UTV so long as you have the right tires for the occasion! You can plan your tire upgrade with this guide from Langston Motorsports.

All-Purpose Tires
If you just want a better set of wheels for standard trail riding, you should go with all-purpose tires. These heavier tires are a big improvement over the stock set that came with your vehicle. That being said, they are not intended for difficult terrain. They can handle a few challenges here and there, but all-purpose tires will perform best on the compact dirt you will encounter at designated off-road trails.
Mud Tires
If you love nothing more than crashing through the mud, you should equip your UTV with a set of mud tires. These tires feature widely spaced two-inch lugs designed to deliver optimal traction on slick surfaces, like mud puddles and riverbeds. The tread pattern is easy to clean, so you won’t have any trouble hosing off all that mud when you get home from the trail. Keep in mind that mud tires are much heavier than standard tires, and this will reduce your performance when riding on compact dirt.
Sand Tires
If you want to scale sandy slopes on your UTV, you should swap your standard tires for sand tires. Standard UTV tires are not up for the task, and you will experience handling issues if you attempt to ride on sand without specialized tires. Sand tires are lightweight and feature a unique paddle-like tread pattern that allows them to skate over the sand without sinking in.
Snow Tires
If you want to explore winter wonderlands with your UTV, you should reach for a set of snow tires. Not unlike the snow tires designed for cars and trucks, UTV snow tires feature widely spaced lugs and extra slits for additional grip on slick surfaces. They are also made using specialized rubber compounds that stay soft in freezing temperatures. UTV snow tires should only be used on snow, as they won’t perform well in dry conditions.
These are just a few of the tire options for UTVs! If you have any questions about UTV tires, feel free to ask the qualified team at Langston Motorsports. We welcome customers from Temecula and Orange County, California.
