The ATV Accessories You Need For Mudding
There’s no better way to catch your thrills than on your ATV, and no better place to ride it than your favorite mud hole. But mud can be dangerous for your ATV if it’s not properly equipped. We here at Langston Motorsports want you to enjoy your rides without worrying, so we’ve put together some of the ATV accessories you need to go mudding safely. The Right Outfit
First things first: you need to be properly equipped before your ATV. The right riding gear makes all the difference when it comes to safety, so make sure you wear the right outfit. That includes a well-fitted, full-coverage helmet. While mud isn’t known for being hard on the head, there’s always the chance that it’s shallower than it looks, and rocks don’t get softer just because you can’t see them. Ensure your helmet has been crash-test certified to make sure it actually protects you, and full-face coverage is best.
You’ll also want durable, full-coverage clothing. Summer rides can be hot, but long sleeves and long pants are worth the extra heat. Gloves will also help you stay in control despite mud and sweat while they protect your hands, and sturdy boots that go above your ankle are a must.
Snorkel Kits
While you’re unlikely to drive your ATV into deep mud on purpose, it’s always hard to know how deep it actually goes. Moisture is a major danger to ATVs, especially if it gets into your exhaust system or another part of your engine. There are ways to keep your ATV safe from that, though, even if you end up half-submerged.
The best way is with a snorkel kit. These upgrade kits provide extended air intakes, extended CVT inlets, and outlet exhausts. Snorkel kits can help keep vulnerable parts of your ATV dry when the rest gets soaked, which can save the machine from an early retirement.
Mud Tires
Obvious as it sounds, mud tires are a worthwhile investment. They provide enhanced traction in slick and wet conditions, and are more buoyant to prevent you from sinking. Just don’t drive them on pavement or hard-pack dirt, as that can damage them.
Mudguard Kits
If you’re traveling in a group, you need to think about more than the mud that’s hitting your ATV—you have to think about the mud you’re kicking up. A mudguard kit provides extended plastic fenders to help reduce the mud your tires spray into the air and even help protect your ATV a bit better.
Once you’ve got all that, it’s time to hit the mud! If you have any questions, or you’d like to see the ATVs we have available, contact us at Langston Motorsports. We proudly serve the people of Temecula and Orange County, California—let us serve you today!
