General Guide On Yamaha WaveRunner® PWCs
Nothing says summer like taking a ride along the coast aboard your own personal watercraft. For over 30 years, one of the biggest names in PWCs has been Yamaha, with their most popular craft being the WaveRunner. This trustworthy brand has delivered high performance with a focus on safety in all their models, which is why they’re so commonplace.

Development Of A New PWC
After entering the boat market a few decades prior, the Yamaha Motor Company expanded their horizons further by entering the personal watercraft market in 1986. This year marked the release of their iconic WaveRunner PWC, a sit-down, open-stern craft that cut easily through the waves and provided its riders with endless thrills. Its breezy handling made it ideal for novices, too.
Over the years, the WaveRunner has seen further improvements, including the 2002 FX® 140, which featured the first four-stroke engine ever seen on a personal watercraft, boosting its fuel economy. By 2008, Yamaha was using NanoXCel® in its hulls to lighten its PWCs by 25% so they handled even better in the water.
WaveJammer® & WaveBlaster®
Not only did Yamaha make a splash with the WaveRunner, they also designed a few more PWCs that soon became extremely popular amongst watersports enthusiasts. The first of these was the WaveJammer in 1987, which was produced until 1991 as a solo-rider sit-down style. It was supplanted in 1993 by the WaveBlaster, which allowed room for two riders. Much emphasis was placed on its extremely powerful engine.
SuperJet™
Yamaha wasn’t content to simply produce sit-down style designs. They added the SuperJet to their roster in 1990, making it their first stand-up model, which remains in production 29 years later. The two-stroke engine and sheet-molded composite hull made this craft extremely agile, durable and fast in the water, which was ideal for the experienced rider eager to go to the next level. The SuperJet is considered one of the most popular styles the company has ever produced, right alongside the WaveRunner.
